About Me

Hi! I’m Jess Moorefield, a CS PhD student at North Carolina State University. I study human-centered software supply chain security. I am advised by Dr. Dominik Wermke and am a member of the Wolfpack Privacy and Security (WSPR) Lab and the Secure Software Supply Chain Center (S3C2).

My previous work was a semi-structured interview study, investigating how developers prepare for and address software supply chain threats and vulnerabilities. Currently, I am working on empirical measurements and practical tools that support software professionals in mitigating supply chain attacks.

This is my third year at NC State. I did my bachelor’s and master’s in Computer Science and bachelor’s in Editing, Writing, and Media at Florida State University (FSU), which gave me an interdisciplinary background in technical communication for a non-technical audience. While at FSU, I was an active member of the research community. I worked for different organizations to contribute original scholarly research in computer science, as well as to facilitate undergraduate research participation. I also served as a graduate teaching assistant for undergraduate software engineering courses.

Please feel free to check out my research, CV, and course projects. Thanks for stopping by!
